I'm having a problem with loose screws in the chassis of my HD130 amp head. They are the ones on the top that secure the amp board to the chassis (there are two on each side). Here's a picture of my amp; I circled the sections with the loose screws: http://members.toast.net/adam79/hd-130a. jpg. Any suggestions on how I can secure these screws? At the moment you can just pull the screws out and back into the chassis. The screws don't seem strips, so I'm assuming it might be the grooves in the chassis. I was thinking that I should get a screw that is a bit thicker, but then I realized that it probably won't fit through the hole in the board holder.

Thanks,
-Adam

Look in the bottom of your head-probably hiding under the reverb tank. YOu should find the nut's that they SHOULD be attached to. There SHOULD be four nuts with lock washers attached that they screw into.

I'll check for them (or go to the hardware store if they aren't there). Where do the nuts go? Closer to the top of the screw, or at the end of the screw (underneath the hole in the board holder)? Are they supposed to be attached (so they don't come loose when you take out the screw)?

Thanks for the help,
-Adam

The nuts go all the way underneath the chassis, on the bottom. They are not attached to anything unfortunately so sometimes, the rattle off and fall down. You just have to hold them up against the screws to get them started.

I found two of them.. guess I'm headed to the hardware store to buy the other two. Do you know what size the nut is (so I don't have to bring the screw and try each nut 'til I find the one that fits)?

Thanks again for the help,
-Adam

IF they are the same as the earlier ones, they should be 10-32.

Just an addition, if you can find them with lock washers attached to the nuts, tha would bee better. It will help them stay tight and not fall off again.

Yep. Bought two 10-32 nuts w/ lock washers; perfect fit!

Thanks,

Does it matter which way you screw on the nut (locking washer facing up or down)?

Lock washer goes up against the chassis itself.

That's what I figured (lock washers facing up). Thanks for helping me get my amp up to spec. I just sold it on eBay and wanted to make sure that the board mount was secured to the chassis before shipping it out. I got $400, which seems like a fair price.. especially since I bought the amp for $350. I'm gonna miss my HD130 Reverb, but it's time for me to keep things fresh and buy a new piece of gear (either a guitar or amp).. I want to save up for a Marshall Super Bass.

Just FYI, I've seen that particular nut labeled a 'keps nut'.
