Text description

A picture from a few years back. Had to replace the grill cloth, as it was shredded, but it looks pretty good to me!

Damn, I LOVE those oldSUNN's . I've got an old 4-10 cab that I put a single 15 in thatI use for guitar sometimes and LOW volume bass stuff to record that I put an equally old jbl d-130 in. Mine doesn't have the right grill cloth but it was back in the day and we didn't think of such things then.

Yeah, it sounds daaaamn good! I use the normal channel on the Music Man, and a 15" guitar speaker in the cab. Old school goodness! No huge bottom, but enough low mids to easily stay in front of a 70 watt guitar amp with a heavy bottom!

Is that a bassman hiding behind it?

Yes it is! It's an early 70's silverface bassman.

Actually, that's what my main guitar head is now. I got to th epoint EVERYTHING was too freaking heavy so I bought a raggedy ass bassman, fixed all the stuff that was wrong with it, did some bullet proofing and use it as my main guitar amp hrough two 1x12 czbinets with jbl's in them. Light, enough power for me and I can actually carry it. Great amps for guitar with a little fudging with. Mine is a '71.

Yeah but they are CRATES! Worked on them-junk. Hell, I used to sell that junk when they LOOKED like crates back in the 70's. They were part of St Louis Music and we were a buyer from them. They were cheap solid state amps that actually looked like they were made from old packing crates. Sounded like them too. I'll stick to my good stuff.

I hope ya know I was teasing with ya,I could never imagine you playing a solid state crate amp, lol.I also worked in a music store for a while and crate made this full stack that could not have weighed 2o pounds for the whole thing !awful for anything but metal.I do remember the ones in the wood crate boxes.the blue voodoos are the only thing they make worth looking into.

We know y'all is pullin' our leg. NOBODY should take ME seriously, for gawds sake. I've actually thought of using a SS amp at one time or another but thankfully, I came to my senses!

Yeah, I'm going the other way in terms of weight. Got an old Fender Showman Reverb 2 X 15 extension cab from about 1971 that's I'm fixing up right now. Thing weighs about 80 pounds while it's empty! It's going to be easily 100 pounds when I'm done with it...

New Rig

I posted this on the facebook page, but figured I would post it here too.

I took the speaker out of my old Sunn cab and put it in this Fender 215 about a year and a half ago, and got another HD-150 and an old Acoustic 412 a few months back. I just got everything back in one place and finally got it all plugged in this week. Been getting some bugs out, but it sounds killer! I'm afraid to really push the volume because it just sounds scary loud with both amps at 4 on pre and 4 on the master volume.

How does that 412 sound by itself ? Are those JBL's in there ?

Those are the stock speakers that were period for Acoustics. Some were shiny dome with the vent hole in them, some, like mine, had and off white dome.
