I have Weber beam blockers installed in a number of my amps and cabs but NOT in any of my Music Man amplifiers!

I think this is probably because I think the Music Man amps were designed to sound GREAT clean with a Stratocaster type guitar. They are not too strident and they have full body using a Strat on its stock neck pickup.

However, in the band I play with the most currently, I needed a small lightweight system. I settled on a Peavey Classic 30 112 combo sitting on top of a matching 112 extension cab. In order to maximum the sound output level I installed 16-ohm Avatar Hellatone 16L speakers in the amp and cab. These speakers are Celestion Vintage 30 derivatives that are aged and broken in (more mellow than new and a tad more low-end output) and have a 1 watt sensitivity of over 101dB as opposed to the 97 db of the original Peavey (Eminence-made) speakers. This has increased the audio output level noticeably!

I found this amp with those speakers to have a bit too much "icepick" high end with the Strat so I installed some of the 12" Weber Beam Blockers (4" center cone) and it toned that problem right down! Another positive is that since the highs are not simply blocked but diffused sideways in all directions (re-directed), I can hear myself better on stage (off-axis)!

The Beam Blockers are a great way to solve a problem like mine! If I played my Les Paul through this amp I might not like it as much!

Steve ,I might also like to add that to me the strat needs to be plugged into the low gain input, most people won't do this because they think it's like the low gain input on most amps ,not the case that input beefs up the laziest of single coils,I have played some real junk though that input and they sound great! cudos to musicman for thinking this out ,more amps need this kind of inovation .(and Steve really???????? a peavy classic 30 ?those amps are just rude to the ears at least the ones i've heard.sorry but I have to be honest with my opinion ,and yes it is a opinion .

My experience with Beam Blockers is: Don't use them with really load speakers. I got a weird bonging sound with some old Fane speakers. I took them out and put in D120Fs and it still made the sound. I took out the Beam Blockers and the bong went away.
