Several issues, and this is the first time I've been in one. It looks as though the inner pair of power tube sockets have a 1.5 k 10 watt resistor running from pin 8 to a junction, and then to the driver board. There is also a large cap going fron pin 8 to ground. In this amp, the cap and resistor on the left of the two inner sockets are toasted- they were touching, and I'm thinking the resistor took the cap with it. The Groove Tubes that came with the amp had been removed; one has a spacer/washer actually bouncing around inside it, so I'm hoping maybe the bad GT took the resistor and cap when it went. Thoughts? Thanks in advance-

Actually, that sounds exactly right. When that 700v gopes directly to ground, thing burn up. When you replace the tubes, cap and resistor, you might want to power it up gently, in case it took a transformer with it(doubtful). Hook up a poor mans variac- a light bulb in series with the hot side of an outlet and plug it in to that. That way, you can tell if it's pulling too much juice and not smoke any more stuff. Put in a 60 watt bulb and when you turn it on, it will flash brighter for half a second, and then settle down to a dull glow. If it burns brightly, it's pulling too much current. Then it's time to startr looking. Mike.
