The HD-130 is a great sounding clean amp. However, the gain side of it is pretty ordinary. It just doesn’t get a good sound.
I saw the Clapton mod for the HD-130 and thought it probably won’t deliver the required tones.
I suppose mods to the preamp is a moot point when you can buy foundation distortion pedals under $300.
Are there mods that you have tried and liked?

Yeah, you are better off with front end pedals. Distortion from IC's in MM's is just so so, IMO. I always pedaled mine. Maybe a line 6 pedal board? I used my built pedals and some factory stff when I was playing but the modeling crap from today IS pretty awesome.
