no reverb 112RD 65

I recapped and added new tubes, set bias to 25mv. The reverb worked great before the recap job. I reversed the leads going to the reverb spring with no change. I get a crash sound when the reverb foot switch is on and I jiggle the amp, but I can't hear the reverb while playing guitar. Any ideas on what I can check/replace?

Broken wire

Hi Craig,

very often there is a broken wire/connection inside the reverb tank. Take the tank out of the bag, remove the cardboard (if so equipped) and shine a light on it. The broken wires are often right where they solder onto the RCA connectors.

Thx Lars, I removed the

Thx Lars, I removed the reverb tank and checked for broken connections. No such luck. CASCADE type 271 reverb tank is high quality construction. The lid is riveted to the body and a 3-3/4" X 10-1/2" X 3/8" plywood block is taped to the lid of the tank. I guess the plywood is to damper the reverb tank. I removed the circuit board and rechecked all my soldering points and at that time I decided to replace the 2 3.9 ohm & 2 390 ohm resistors will I had the board open. I am also replacing the 2 150K ohm resistors in the dog house. I ordered the resistors from Mouser Electronics and i'm waiting for them to arrive any day now. Hope to have the amp back together next week. I will report my progress and hope that I had a cold solder joint on the circuit board and that the reverb works. craig

more problems

got the resistors today and installed them. put amp back together and did the burn test. I set the bias to 24mv across one of the 3.9 ohm resistor, and got no voltage across the other 3.9 ohm resistor. this recap job has been the worst project that I have ever taken. Any ideas for me to check?

Yes

...but not in this thread as it's about reverb. Let's take it to another thread (forget if you already had one open).

Cheers,
Lars
