Next crazy question, Is there anyway to add a 1/2 power mod to these amps?

Are you thinking along the lines of the higher powered MM amps that had the HI/LOW power switching?
That would be done with the transformers. They had a tap on the tranny that would produce lower voltages. The transformers are different, maybe Mercury Magnetics or another Transformer MFG. could build something but Power scailing would be more affective and less expenive to do. London Power and Hall amplification also makes a kit that is very reasonably priced.

I ordered a VVR kit from Hall Amplification today, it regulates the screen grid voltages. I am going to try it on an RD-50 that I am working on. I will post the results when its installed and dialed in. The theory is that lowering screen grid volatges will lower output tube power, "Power scailing". The issue I see is that the cathodes are transistor driven, and pin 5 is the bias grid, so they will be left alone in this experiment. The area that I will attempt will be the screen grids. I am hoping for the best, Dana has some very good prices for his completed VRR boards, and they are relatively simple to install. www.hallamplification.com
