Who knew that I would ever own a Music Man Amplifier? The story actually began one morning when I ran across a lady that I knew as I was getting my mail at the Post Office. Her husband, who had recently passed away, had been a local musician and she was wanting to sell off his P.A. equipment and asked me if I would pass the word around since I played music and knew other musicians. I told her that I would try to help, but that I would need to stop by and look at the P.A. system so that I could provide more info to people just in case they were interested. A few days later when I went over to her house to look at the equipment, I noticed a covered amplifier sitting next to the P.A. and asked if it was also for sale. She indicated that she would like to get rid of it as well and when we took the cover off of it, lo and behold, it was the MUSIC MAN 115-65.

I didn't know a whole lot about Music Man Amps, but from the way it looked I told her that I might be interested in buying the amp myself. She said that I could take the amp home for a few days if I wanted to try it out and see if it worked. It was during this time as I was looking for information about Music Man amps that I happened to find this website. Anyway, to make a long story short, whenever I returned the amp to her I made and offer to buy it, and after a few days waiting she called me back and said that if I still wanted the amp, it was mine.

I bought the amplifier on August 5, 2010, and since that time I have replaced the two output tubes (as it only had one good one when I tried it out) with a matched pair of JJ E34L's, since the old tubes I removed were made by TESLA. I also repaired the factory Reverb/Tremolo footswitch as the wiring had deteriorated and the RCA phono plugs were in bad shape. I got some new plugs at Radio Shack and cut off all but about 6 feet of wire to the footswitch. After connecting the plugs back up to the switch, it now works like new. The only other thing that I have done to the amp is add 4 new casters to the bottom. When I got the amp it had the mounts, but no casters. I got a set of 4 Fender replacement casters and they work like a charm.

The Serial No. on my amplifier is BN08916 and as far as I can tell the amplifier is all original except for what I mentioned above. It still has the tube location diagram attached inside, and there is a Music Man decal located on the back of the speaker magnet. It seems to power up well and has a good sound for a tube amp that's now around 35 years old.

Sorry about my picture not appearing at the top of my story, but the instructions about uploading pictures to the Message board are a little bit confusing. Hopefully it will post on this second try.
