Hi, ive been considering building a tolex-free finished wood cabinet for my 112 Rd one hundred Are there any special considerations i should take into account during the construction of this replacement cabinet? things like rattles and acoustics? (ive never made a shell for amplifiers/speakers before) just out of interest, what wood is the rd 112 originally made of? thanks, nick | ||

The cabs are 3/4" pine with finger-joints, the front baffle is 1/2"-3/4" baltic ply I believe. Back baffels 1/4" ply. I like good old aged pine. Koa is beautiful and expensive along with other exotic woods, but pine has a sweet vintage tone and Fender/Musicman were pine. Fender used paricle board baffles on the 60's & 70's. Musicman changed the baffles using plywood. |
