HD150 Transformer Buzzing NOT through speaker

My HD150 is buzzing NOT through the speaker. It appears to be coming from the transformer. Admittedly, it hasn't been taken great care of, but, it's been bulletproof.

There is some rust on the exterior of the transformer, but nothing horrible. The mounting screws are tight, as are the bolts that hold it together. Should I pull it apart and just see what I can see? Can't hurt, right?

I've been looking for replacements with no luck. Any ideas?

Thanks

I’m going through the same

I’m going through the same thing with a 74 130hd. The customer brought your to me stating the amp was cutting in and out and I discovered many undisclosed issues.

The power transformer is buzzing loudly and the amp is blowing its fuse within 3 seconds. I’ve tested the pt and it’s good. Next step is to lift the output transformer center tap and see if it’s shorted.

Best of luck and let us know what you find. I’ll do the same. Btw your amp is a widow maker. The caps in that amp store tremendous energy which is lethal. Do not poke around in there if you don’t know what you’re doing.
