I've got a MM HD210 One*Fifty I'll never part with. I don't give a fat baby's dick for those with the attention span of a chicken among ye who piss themselves whenever forward-thinking mods of any kind are put forth. In fact, for you toads, I purposely 2X coated the tolex exterior with the same brown-tint shellac I did my Bassman 5F6A with, and gold hand-painted the faceplates. So here's my question; I've always hated that budget-rent-a-car, cheese ass power-on light MM slapped on these fantastic amps. I'd like to slap an interchangable color crystal on my MM. Have any of you done this? What's specifically involved in doing so, to make it fit right and look as wonderful as this born-to-rock-the-blues gig animal plays? Thanks, Marc mmulay@cox.net | ||

My God, this site either isn't book marked or you guys are phenomenally devoid of spunk and humor. I'd hate to think that the MusicMan has fallen into the hands of an entire generation of passive-aggressive life support systems for a dry clit! C'mon fellas-- TELL me that cat fart power ON switch does any justice to our beloved BEAST? It's like a Morris Minor horn on a Lamborghini. Some of us over-work for a living, so we only get to sample your prose once every few weeks! I have often thought about replacing the neon pilot assembly found in MM amps with a standard jewel-lense holder for a #47 pilot lamp (as found in the Fender amps of the glorious past). It would make the MM amps look less like a Mr. Coffee in a dark room. I personally haven't done this, but it WOULD require modification of the chassis as well as the front panel. This would entail not only complete disassembly of the front panel (and removal)and machining of the new mounting hole (chassis and matching hole in the front panel) but also a change in wiring. The original neon lamp assembly has its own dropping resistor built-in and wires directly to 120VAC when On. The #47 pilot lamp used with the jewel-lense pilot light assemblies is typically run through a dropping resistor from a heater supply voltage (unregulated). | ||

I'm gonna do it when I replace the speakers next year as a gift to myself (pls. see the research I did elsewhere on the site). Much appreciated and glad Aussie Carl is among those who also "saw the light" as something halfway between an alarm clock in need of slamming one on the wife's vibrator kicked to life under the bed by the cat. Hey Guys! So has anyone sussed this out yet cuz mine don't shine anymore and I'm lookin' to insert a Blue Fender type jewel in it and that's about all the moddin' I'll be doin'.Has anyone changed the speaker in their RD100 for somethin' else and what's the diff soundwise and is it worth it? | ||

I just found 4 Fender type jeweled lights. I am satisfied to leave them sitting on a shelf nearby the Mister Coffee machines. Sure, I dream about the best way to poke a hole in the chassis and plate in one, assembled swoop...but no, Leo must have made them that way for a reason. {A small punch could be ground with a centering tip to fit exactly the existing hole, and attached to a small die in a screw driven fashion....} I won't do it but it's nice to have the lenses and holders around... | ||

ok guys i know this is a old post but i do beleave that there are people wanting to get rid of mr coffee for a jewell lens of thier favorite color as i did on my 100rd.here goes :first i unsoldered the connections to the light,next i took the lamp assembly and carefully pulled off the lens with needle nosed pliers.i then roughed the metal ring that held the old lens,super glued that to the plastic tube that holds the bulb and put some solder on the metal sleave.i then had to tap the hole in the chasis with a 9/16 tap.screwed in the jewel lens,and put a bit of solder on end of the jewell lens,i then CAREFULLY soldered the tube to the lens .after it cooled i the put a little super glue on the assembly for good measure,resoldered the wires back on and waaa lahhh it worked,note:do at your own risk.you can see this in my post:my 100 rd in the brag about your amp section of this fine site |
