Hello,

I was wondering if anybody had found a way to modify the circuit to get a much warmer tone of the reverb like on a Fender Deluxe Reverb.

I find my Reverb in my 112 RP-65 too bright... Even though i should probably replace it for a long delay spring reverb i believe the best would be to modify the circuit !

If anyone has heard or tried anything please post :-)

I will keep on looking around and stay tuned...

Ok,before I go too far I have never attempted this Mod,but it seems like it would work:I'm not sure where you would place another pot,but why not just add a tone pot to that circuit,or better yet a T/B/X control?

I believe changing the reverb's volume pot to a different value would change its tone abit too.

Ok,

That could be a nice mod to do. I guess what makes the Fender reverb so good is the Tube circuit.
Nowadays lots of good pedals exist but it would be nice to have the reverb in the amp...

I will attempt to change the vaue of the pot some time in the summer, i will keep post !

Thank you guys,
Manu

I've actually never heard anybodyy complain about the TONE of MM reverbs, although I'm not real familiar with RP's tones. Are you sure that the tank is GOOD? You have to see what tanks are available now since accutronics went south(real far south!) and check the impedances that the tank that you have is SUPPOSED to have. Here's the only chart that I have showing MM tanks and it's rather old but still valuable. Note the higher input and output impedences.

Accutronics Reverb Tanks
Accutronic Reverb Tanks may be Identified
as follows:
4 - A - B - 3 - C - 1 - B
4 denotes the Accutronics style
A denotes the input impedance code
B denotes the output impedance code
3 denotes the delay time
C denotes the connector grounding
1 denotes the non locking code
B denotes the mounting plane
Part # Primary User Number of Springs Input Impedance Output Impedance Length Price

4BB2C1B Ampeg 2 150 2250 17" $29
4EB2C1B Peavy 2 600 2250 17" $29
4FB3D1B Music Man 2 1475 2250 17" $29

8DB2C1B Marshall 3 310 2575 9" $27
8EB2C1B Fender 3 800 2575 9" $27

HTML setting screw with the line up of the sort but you can count over to see which is which. Mike.

HMMM. Two people with reverb complaints and BOTH amps are the ones without the tube inverter. I know it SHOULDN'T make a difference but I wonder..... Maybe a different reverb driver or tank? Don't know. I personally don't even USE 'verb so I guess I'm NOT the one to shoot my mouth off! I'm sure you could change the caps in the reverb section to do SOMETHING but it may just be pick one and try it. Maybe change C14 to something larger and try to get some more bass response though. Maybe Ed has tried something. Like I said, I'm not much of a reverb guy but let's see if anybody else has tried something. Mike.

I have a DRRI and a MM 65 Reverb head and I am a long-time reverb junkie. The reverb on the DRRI is very good but also bright and with a harsh tail. There are mods for this but the easiest fix is tweaking the reverb sound using the treble dial on your amp and the tone dial on your guitar to taste and this changes with volume settings, too.

I replaced the original Gibbs reverb tank on the 65 Reverb with a MODs tank from AES I and was very pleased with the results. The Gibbs tank was weak and tired-sounding and the MODS tank is much fuller - not as good as a DRRI (and neither get anywhere near an outboard unit)but very, very good, especially when you consider it's a solid state circuit.

If you go this route, remember you need to order the corect tank for your amp - good luck! Gilmour

There is also an easy (and reversible mod) for tweaking the reverb on a blackface Fender amp that might work on a Music Man. In his book Tube Amp Talk for the Guitarist and Tech, Gerald Weber (1997) has an article called ?Fine Tune the Reverb on Your Blackface Reverb Amp? (p. 39) whereby you route the ?out? signal from your reverb tank into the input of channel 1 and then use the volume, bass and tone pots on channel 1 as mix, dwell and tone reverb controls - it won?t give your amp a built-in outboard reverb, but I have tried it on my DRRI and it?s pretty cool?it just might work on a Music Man amp, too.

Hi !

Thanks for all the infos ! I think i will start off by replacing the tank or at least try a new one ! If nothing is improved i will try differents pots values. and why not a bigger c14 !!

thank you all for taking the time to answer this !
