i mentioned in another thread that I'm wanting an
external cab for my 210-hd130.
I've come across a cheap musicman 2x12 cab w/ speakers which will probably be replaced.

I believe a 2x10 cab would be the best match for my 2x10 combo, but does anyone run 2 12s and 2 10s?

How would this sound? Worth pursuing?

sure people run 10's and 12's togther, its a matter of taste .usally this happens because 10's are usally lots of bass lots of treble, they add the 12s to get the mids back .so i'd look into 12s that are abit mid heavy.now if you love the sound of the 10's by all means get the 210 cab,the 12's will change the sound.

In my experience (primarily with Eminence 12" speakers vs. the stock Music Man alnico 10" speakers), the 12's have more bass and treble than the 10's.

Of course, other 12's will sound different, i.e. I've heard Celestion Vintage 30's are very midrangey, the low-power Webers are not likely to sound much like an Eminence made for a Twin, etc. Overall, I think 12" speakers with ceramic magnets have a wider frequency response than the stock MM 10's.

Eminence has a Tone Guide Chart describing the different tones. I used it and happy i did. It was right on the money.
