I have a MM 112RP Sixty-Five that had the original square back magnet. It sounds clear and loud. I swaped it out with another speaker that I had, a eminence Red Coat Private Jack. Sounds pretty good to my ears. Breaks up nice at louder volumes. Its only rated at 50 watts. What for other speakers is everyone else using? The original MM, EV, JBL, Eminence, Weber, Jensen, etc.

I have the 112RD50 and the best sounding speaker to my ears is the stock Electro Voice 12" speaker. I tried different speakers and always returned to the original thing. For me there is no better amp and no better speaker for loud, fat and sparkling clean tones - PERIOD ! ;-)

I know this is a old post but I just noticed it,and I want everybody to have a choice of all the info.My personal fave speakers for my cabs are the BS12's(british series)speakers made by carvin, they have been making them again I believe.when I went to look for mine they had quit so I had to search hard to get them, but it was worth it,they are kinda like celestions with a huge basket.

I have also heard that the Eminence V12's are actually a little nicer than the Celestion Vintage 30's, at a lower price. I have an extension cabinet with an OEM Emi that has nearly the same specs as the V12, and I prefer it to the stock drivers in my 210-65.

I too have an RP65 with the sq. back 12 , which Im guessing was a stock speaker in 1982, Im also guessing its EV. it sounds ok , but the amp has a lot of high end, I have to use the deep switch and roll back the treble to 4 and bass up to 6, and my strat I have to roll the tone controls back to 6 or so, Im used to having them on 8 or 9, Id like to find a speaker thats more rounded, I may go to Weber, ive used them b4 with good luck, any input would be appreciated.

if you are using a strat,be sure and plug into the low input,it will give those single coils a bit of a beefier signal,it's kinda like a mid boost.

The square-magnet 12's are almost certainly Eminence models in Music Man's. The only other mfr of that style magnet I've seen is CTS. If anyone is looking for a replacement EV 12", there is a reconed one for $115 on Ebay (search #230691338763).
