Actually, creative and cool.

Idiots (most people) resist change.

Change is even more predictable than either death or taxes :-)

Even if I wouldn't do this myself, I can appreciate the fact that someone WAS creative, put some thought into it and did a good job in the execution.

In a way, this is a lot like making music! I may not care for the tune, but I can appreciate the process and craftsmanship behind it.

im trying to convince a friend to buy a rh130 212" cab to use as an extension of his 210" HD 130 combo
the thing is that although it is the original cabinet and speakers (eminence) the vinyl has been replaced aswell as the grill cloth with wire mesh
in my opinion it looks shit but seeing these modified photos gives me ideas in to how these box could look good - because it is impossible to restore musicmans back to original .

i agree with steve and marc - although some of these amps i would do a little differently some of the ideas are very nice. I also now figure that if your going to have something for the rest of your life make it look goos in your own opinion - fuck resale, in this case anyway it would be a huge improvement on the aesthetics.

so what do you think - buy this baby up and maybe cover it in white vinyl with fender grill loth, maybe wicker and wood?, maybe tie die - who knows who cares.
the speakers are worth $200 alone so the whole package must be worth this right?

i reckon he should buy it and then we'll recover it or stain the wood and find a suitable grill cloth.

cheers

ps is musicman cloth available in the states? it is different from fender cloth right?

It's all about personality! As long as the total cost of acquisition and modification (plus elbow-grease) is within your tolerances, then go for it!

I agree, screw resale most of the time. Please yourself first. This is one reason why I got into Music Man amps in the first place... they were "sleepers", unappreciated by the same folks who would pay thousands of dollars for a clapped-out 50's Fender Tweed that needs EVERYTHING before it will be a functioning member of musical society again.

If it isn't worth a ton in factory-original condition, then I won't hurt its resale value much if I "personalize" it! This puts a whole new facet into the equation... Fun and Creativity. These aren't possible or affordable for most people if you are dealing with a '63 Fender Concert or Super Reverb!

Steve thanks for your late reply!
this actually sold for Au 500 what a joke - thats the guys at MELMUSIC for you
i bourght my box, with original everything and badges for 200 odd , the speakeres were shagged but got them rebuilt for 140 each by the most reputable speaker rebuilder in the country
now theres no turning back, everyone should run an extension cab with there musicmans, just dont use it for small applications!

i thought this box would have been great for say 250 as the speakers work, from there a bit of tolex and some nicer cloth, but for 500Au thats $350 US - i dunno. Some sucker has, but i guess they are rare as phuck down here, especially the ext. cabs.

THANKS STEVE

btw i use the EH6ca7's, very nice, didnt take long for them to rattle though!!

ciao

Old Fuzzy is back! Again!

You know, this one isn't a bad candidate for restoration. Everything but the corners, speakers and the reverb pan appear to be there. Some new tolex, corners from EB, proper speakers (or your own flavor) and a reverb pan and you're back in business.

I agree with Steve above...it is all about what
you like, forget everybody else. Also when you
get right down to it, close your eyes. Music
is sound, not sight. I hate what MTV has done
to the music world!!!! Let's get back to
hearing the band and having no idea what they
look like !! (I still like to know what
equipment they use though...:-)
