just got this sucker at a pawn shop recently, its on layaway, has replacement JBL speakers, and Im not sure what the serial number is, but I do know it was tweed with an oxblood grille cloth, and so far I havent seen any or talked to anyone who has. Just wondering if anyone has info, or knows what year it is, etc. It does have the One Thirty written out on the logo, and I think the logos were silver on black, but I could be wrong. Oh, also, the faceplate is silver instead of the black that Ive usually seen on them. any help would be great, thanks:-)

Tweed and oxblood? I have never seen one like that and I used to sell the stuff. Sounds a lot like a re-cover and re-cloth. That's no reason to drop it though. Ugly is only skin deep. With the JBL's, iy's probably worth the money just for the speakers. Mike.

If the badges on the grill were the originals (and I have no reason to think they weren't), then you probably have an early (1974-77) HD212-130 with the 12AX7 tube phase splitter circuit (unless it was factory changed to the solid state phase splitter).

JBL speakers, tweed covering and oxblood grill cloth were definitely not standard fare for production Music Man amplifiers.

It may not have stock cosmetics but that doesn't mean the amp isn't electrically stock! With typical JBL speakers, it might lean towards being on the bright side of the tonal curve as compared to stock speakers (much like the optional Electro-Voice EVM speakers offered by the factory).

We may be slow in replying but this is a "hobby-site" after all! Nobody works here full-time (or even part-time for that matter!).

No offense taken! Let us know when you get the amp and how it works out for you!

i have a tweed 112 rd 65, i'm about to resurrect it.. i used it on tour with my band in the 80s and they just released a reissue of some of our records so i'm going on tour again in january, i'm vascillating between taking my fender deluxe or the musicman (luckily i still have anvils for both) but right now i'm leaning toward the musicman simply because of its ruggedness - toured with it for years and never had a problem. (no 12ax7s...)
but it was tweed when new and still is, although i painted on the (originally black) grillcloth.
i'll get numbers off it and post in the next few days...

ok, i'm wrong, it really isn't tweed, just covered in tan tolex, which i now see is the EV version. it's an rd112-100. that's what i get for leaving it alone for 5 years.
it goes back to work next month.
