I have a MM 112 65 watt RP from around 1979 (black logo with silver men). It currently is running EL34's but I noticed in the schematics that it lists 6L6's. Would changing to these tubes make the amp sound better? It seems very quiet for 65 watts. Also, it has been overheating on stage after about 45 minutes and shutting off (volume is usually set at about 5). Any ideas why this would happen?

Some RP65 & RD65&100 Did come with EL34! It may need to be bias Or new tubes Or it may need new driver's 2N6488 to replace JE1692 any one will make it hot. Do not put in 6L6 if your amp came with El34.
