My 212 HD130 is sounding too compressed. Especially during the warm up period, and not as much once the amp get warmed up, but enough to be a problem. Any suggestions on what might be the cause?

Has the amp had a full cap job in the last 10 years? Has it had a properly biased new set of tubes in the last few years?

I would suspect that the amp may need a cap job or some plate resistors replaced (in addition to a new set of tubes and biasing).

Had a partial cap job done, some plate resistors replaced, and new tubes. Must have missed some bad caps.

All of the electrolytic caps ought to be replaced at the same time. If some are bad after 25 years, the others are or will be soon!
