Hello Everybody,

I have read that the 12AT7 can be substituted for the 12AX7 in PI Music Man amps. Since they are a lower gain tube, will that result in a cleaner tone as the channel volume gets turned up? I love my Sixty-Five, but it hates my SG Special's P90's. The pickups are loud as hell, and I can't seem to get it to sound clean above about 2 on the channel volume. What do you guys think?

It really shouldn't do anything in that circuit. It's only used as a PI, not a gain stage.
