Can anyone help me here please ? I'm trying to restore an RD110 50 which has been abused over the years and I need to find a source for replacement chassis straps. Better still, if anyone has any for sale could you let me know ? I also need to replace the grill cloth. Is there a recommended outlet for this too ?
I'm based in the UK.
Thanks

Eric you can get the grill cloth at MOJO PH# 800-927-6656 The chassis straps you will have to have made or find them on EBAY.

Thanks for the information Terry - it's much appreciated. I'll watch EBAY for the straps, but I'm guessing that they don't appear too often.

Eric, I am restoring my MM 410 130 currently and have run into the "Chassis Strap Nightmare" I am guessing that I have made over 25 phone calls (coast to coast) and surfed dozens of web sights and have come up empty handed. I dont know what condition your chassis straps are in but what I am in the process of doing is re-plating them myself. There are small inexpensive plating machines you can pick up for less than $30 I will let you know how they turn out!

Hi Randy. I have one strap missing completely (how do you lose a chassis strap ???) and the other is quite badly corroded. I think that if I can't find replacements I will try to make one to replace the missing one. The plating machine sounds interesting - I've never seen one in the UK, so I would be interested in more information about them if you have it. Thanks.

I went to a local hardware store and found some chrome-plated "U" bolts that came with chrome-plated bar "washers" that were just right for use as chassis straps on a 112RD-100 I got that didn't come with any (someone lost the originals and used circular washers instead!).

Eric, good luck finding them anywhere, I have tryed. You will probably be better off fabricating some yourself. As far as the plating goes I went to: www.caswellplating.com wish you the best of luck, for more info check out the the piece I wrote in "cabinet repair and preparation"

Hi Folks
I'm having to source a chassis strap for my Music Man 112RP65
combo. It went to a repair shop who cross threaded the bolts and trying to get it off it snapped it! grrrrr I'm wondering if Fender do anything similar?
Regards

Graham
