These happen to be 10's, but power-wise
speaker replacements for now "vintage" MM's
can't be taken lightly.

Personally, I'm inclined toward these Fane 8 Ohm's

Check out the links (Steve ?)

PS--

The general volume and frequency of input on this
site has me wondering if perhaps a fairly high
% of MM owners have gone Fender-Reissue if not
outright Mesa Boogie and Boutique ex/ BadCat Hotcat for tone, deserting any former nostalgic
love for the MM series...thoughts? :-)

I am partial to the Eminence drivers generally, because they are less expensive and more widely available. I have used both "Vintage" series and Delta series (for bass) Eminence drivers and have been completely satisfied with their performance and reliability.

Having said that, from looking purely at the specifications I would probably go with the Fanes. The Fane Axiom 10 units seem to have a more "guitar-centric" frequency response. They also have a larger voice coil, larger magnet and look more like the original speakers than the Eminence.

Of course they cost more than the Eminence Alpha and I personally haven't heard the Fanes so I couldn't comment on that aspect (perhaps the one that matters most!).

I think either one would be a good choice depending on how you weight the criteria.

I don't know about other people, but I still use my Music Man amps for my primary guitar amplification. If I want "dirt", then I use an outboard preamp, but clean and blues are strictly guitar-to-Music Man with nothing in between!

While I have access to some Fender, Groove Tube and Marshall amplifiers, my Music Man amps are usually my first choice!
