Museum of Flight - Boeing Field

The Museum of Flight can be found at Boeing Field just south of Seattle.  The facility is nestled among and includes some of the original buildings the Boeing Company started in (the "Red Barn").  Its location just off the flightline on Boeing Field puts it in the middle of many aviation-related activities and visiting aircraft.  The aircraft I found in the storage yard next to the Museum were as interesting to view (through a fence) as the finished display aircraft inside (and a lot easier to photograph!).

At the 50th Anniversary of the Boeing B-17 held at Boeing Field in 1987, the Museum of Flight unveiled a surprise... a Boeing-built B-17 Flying Fortress!  It had taken possesion of the former bug-sprayer and fire-bomber N17W, a well respected and well documented aircraft.  The museum contains many unique and interesting aircraft as well as eductional aviation and space-related items.  More information can be found on their website at   www.museumofflight.org .  Check it out, it is worth the trip!
